ANATECH believes that linking theory and practice in the 21st Century requires a renewed commitment to improved methodology with which to determine how materials and structures actually respond to faulted loadings which exceed typical structural design bases. There are many excellent general purpose finite element computer programs available today. However, oftentimes it is necessary to develop advance material models to obtain accurate structural response predictions of beyond design basis loadings up to and including failure. This was very evident in the recent concrete delamination at a US nuclear plant. None of the available computers programs were able to predict this unusual and unexpected event until ANATECH demonstrated the initiation and propagation of the delamination using its ANACAP-U concrete material model in conjunction with these programs. ANATECH is committed to continue to improve at validate its software in this way.
